After a good performance at home against Highridge in midweek, Olveston reserves travelled to the third and final promoted team AFC Mangotsfield on Saturday in a tough fixture against last season's Division 2 Champions.

In sweltering heat, Olveston started brightly creating a couple of openings, whilst keeping things tight at the back. However, the Hosts soon got into their stride as they looked to avenge a 7-0 mauling on the opening day to Hallen A (Div 3 champions last season)

Immediately after a water break midway through the first half, the hosts opened the scoring with an absolute "worldy", quickly followed by a goal from a long throw that Olveston should have done better with.

Soon after, Smith was close to pulling a goal back at the back post but just failed to connect, with Olveston also continuing to go close from set pieces.

Changes came at half time as Olveston looked to get back into the game - the second half was much more evenly matched with Olveston largely holding their own, without really creating a lot of chances. One more goal came for the hosts in the second half and despite efforts from Gilbert ( a buccaneering run from his own half which ended on the edge of the 6 yard box) Olveston couldn't pull a goal back.

Certainly a tough day at the office against a very good, organised side with plenty of quality on show. A much improved second half was good to see and now looking for reaction on Saturday 16th at home v 5th placed Lawrence Weston who did the double over the O's last season, and this season so far have 1 win, a draw and a loss from their 3 matches.
